Welcoming in a New Year

Posted Tuesday, January 4, 2005 by Gwanalla

To say there is "lots going on" is a bit of an understatement!

Many people are wondering what is happening or what will happen with the servers as we seem to be losing player base. Guilds who have been strong are now happy to see 10 of their people at a time. So...what happens now?

It's time for people to come together.

AG started this movement with Ethereal Realms and then The White Cross about 3 months ago. Then EQ2, WoW and other games came crashing thru and many left to go see what was going on. On the third day of EQ2's release, we were pleased to be able to bring the Family into the future. Hard work and generosity by many have enabled this to happen.

However, back to the past/present, things were not so bright. Many miss their friends who took a detour. Some of those people have and will return from their new ventures. Many are finding out "home" wasn't such a bad place to be, to borrow a thought from another Wizard's book. Some have become angered that the gods would cause people to stray by competing with themselves, and some of those people will leave Norrath altogether. Sad, but true.

The joint channel started by TWC and AG still lives, even if quiet at times! We would invite those who are wandering alone or in few number to contact us, thus enabling all to meet new friends and continue exploring the lands we love so very much! Just Families meeting Families in an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment. Helping each other to obtain their goals. And we will all wait together to see what comes.

Meanwhile...in the future.....

The Family now has over 80 members on Antonia Bayle and any given evening or even day will find numbers from 15 - 30 working together in this new environment. EQ2 is a different game! Make no mistake!!

We welcome our sister guild from EMarr, Order of the Flaming Shrine, as Family members now. Emphasis is still about fun, but it is definately about numbers and goals! Many are looking forward to us actually having a "guild house" or a horse, or even the ability to buy certain things only offered to us because of the status built up.

One thing we do have now is a 2-room apartment that has been set up as a meeting place in North Qeynos. Each Family member will be given a visitor's permit so that they may enter at any time. At the next meeting, dues will be set so we might continue upkeep and save for the house we hope to have one day soon.

Some of us do still play in both games, and some play other games, as well! There is no fault in that. We want to have fun with each other and not make it a job! Exploring the new lands is always fun, and the possibility of finding something nobody has before is always there!

Until we meet in either time, may Tunare's mercy and love be in our minds at all times. As always, I remain....
